Description: A medical service trip aboard the M/V Esperanza riverboat to provide acute and lasting medical care to remote communities on the Ampiyacu and Yaguasyacu Rivers. Trip is led by a licensed Peruvian MD. Visits to the historic Amazon town of Pevas, the home/gallery of acclaimed Peruvian artist Francisco Grippa, and Bora, Ocaina and Huitoto Indian communities. Limited remaining space.
Cost: $1825, paid to Project Amazonas. Tax-deductible for US tax-payers. Includes one night hotel in Iquitos, airport reception and drop-off, lodging and meals while on board the M/V Esperanza, crew services, etc. Additional nights hotel in Iquitos at the end of the trip not included.
Itinerary: Departs Iquitos at 10 AM on Sunday 23 April 2017. Participants should arrive on Saturday 22 April (hotel included), orientation dinner at 6 PM on Saturday. Return to Iquitos by noon on Wednesday 3 May 2017. Participants free to depart Iquitos by mid-afternoon onward on 3 May 2017.
