Medical Service Expedition - Pintuyacu River (7d/7n)

Description: A medical service trip aboard the M/V Esperanza riverboat providing acute and lasting medical care to communities on the Pintuyacu River. Led by a Peruvian MD, and accompanied by young doctors and advanced medical students from around the globe. All spaces currently open (as of Jul 2018). 

Cost & Space: $1155 - Paid to Project Amazonas. Tax-deductible for US tax-payers. Includes airport reception and drop-off, first night hotel in Iquitos, all transport, lodging and meals aboard the M/V Esperanza. Translator and guide services included. 

Itinerary: Participants should arrive in Iquitos on Saturday 20 July 2019 (hotel and orientation dinner at 6 PM included). Departure to port area at 9 AM on 21 July. Return to Iquitos by noon on 27 July 2019. Participants free to depart Iquitos by mid-afternoon on that day.

Medical Service Expedition - Mazan River (9d/9n)

Description:  Medical service expedition aboard the M/V Esperanza to provide acute and lasting medical care to communities on the Mazan River. Led by a licensed Peruvian MD.

Cost: $1425, paid to Project Amazonas. Tax-deductible for US tax-payers. Includes one night hotel in Iquitos, airport reception and drop-off, lodging and meals while on board the M/V Esperanza, crew services, etc. Additional nights hotel in Iquitos at the end of the trip not included. 

Itinerary: Departs Iquitos at 9 AM on Sunday 27 October 2019. Participants should arrive on Saturday 26 October (hotel and orientation dinner at 6 PM included). Return to Iquitos by noon on Monday 4 November 2019. Participants free to depart Iquitos by mid-afternoon on that day. 

Optional Extension: 5-13 November 2019. Participants may wish to extend their time in the Amazon with a volunteer excursion to the Madre Selva Biological Station and Orosa Clinic on the Orosa River, with return to Iquitos by 2 PM on Wednesday 13 November (with participants free to depart Iquitos from late afternoon onward). The volunteer extension trip is priced at $1385 and is tax deductible for US tax-payers.

Description: A medical service trip aboard the M/V Esperanza riverboat providing acute and lasting medical care to communities on the Nanay River. Led by a Peruvian MD and anchored by medical students from Florida International University, Miami, Florida, USA.

Cost & Space: $1155 - Paid to Project Amazonas. May be tax-deductible for US tax-payers. Includes airport reception and drop-off, one night hotel (28 Jul) in Iquitos, all transport, lodging and meals aboard the M/V Esperanza riverboat. Translator and guide services included. Currently at capacity.

Itinerary: Participants should arrive in Iquitos on Saturday 28 July 2018 (hotel and orientation dinner at 6 PM included). Departure to port area at 9 AM on 29 July 2018. Return to Iquitos by noon on 4 August 2018. Participants free to depart Iquitos by mid-afternoon on that day.

Description:  A boat-based medical service trip to provide acute and lasting medical care to communities on the Yanayacu and Tahuayo Rivers. Trip is led by a licensed Peruvian MD and Peruvian dentist. 

Cost: $1425, paid to Project Amazonas. Tax-deductible for US tax-payers. Includes first night hotel in Iquitos, airport reception and drop-off, lodging and meals while on board the M/V Esperanza, crew services, etc. Additional nights hotel in Iquitos at the end of the trip not included. 

Itinerary: Departs Iquitos at 9 AM on Sunday 24 June 2018. Participants should arrive on Saturday 23 June (hotel included). Orientation dinner at 6 PM on Saturday evening. Return to Iquitos by noon on Monday 2 July 2018. Participants free to depart Iquitos by mid-afternoon onward on 2 July 2018.

Young Nurses Take Action (YNTA)

Description: A medical service expedition by Young Nurses Take Action, an Alberta-based organization for nursing students and RNs.

Cost: Expedition is at capacity

Itinerary: This expedition will serve various communities on the Mazan River, and also spend several days at the Orosa Clinic, a private clinic operated by Project Amazonas on the Rio Orosa.
